Hydrant Flushing

Hydrant Flushing & Waterline Maintenance

October 12–16, 2026

Residents may notice crews flushing fire hydrants and water running along the street. Hydrant flushing is routine maintenance that helps maintain water quality and ensure hydrants are working properly.

Temporary water discoloration may occur in areas near the flushing. This is generally harmless and caused by silt and air in the waterlines. If your water becomes discolored, run your faucets for a few minutes until the water runs clear.

Thank you for your patience during this important maintenance work.

Scarecrow Contest

Turtle Lake Scarecrow Display Contest

Theme: Dolly Parton or Tim Curry

Displays must be located at a Turtle Lake business and in place by October 24, 2026

Send entries and any questions to info@turtlelakewi.com

Entry must include: Contact name, Organization/Business, mailing address, email, phone number and location of scarecrow (i.e. front yard, back yard)

 

 

 

Trick-or-Treat Hours

Happy Halloween!

The Village of Turtle Lake invites children to Trick or Treat between the hours of 5:00PM and 7:30PM. Please remember to be safe and respectful while enjoying this fun tradition.

 

Junk Vehicle Ordinance Enforcement

Over the winter months both Turtle Lake and Almena Villages have seen several vehicles that are in violation of their ordinances. This includes expired or non-registered vehicles, inoperable or junk vehicles. Inoperable means the vehicle has not moved in more than 14 days from one spot. Vehicles that don’t meet the ordinance requirements must be stored inside a building or moved out of the village. As in the past we do allow store bought vehicle covers (no tarps). This is only allowed if there are no complaints from residents in the village of the vehicle being stored outside. This year we will start enforcing the ordinance after May 10th, 2024. So please take care of your vehicles so we don’t have to enforce the ordinance. The fine is $200.00 a day for the violation.

Barron County has contracted with CodeRED to allow anyone throughout the County the opportunity to receive free emergency alert notifications and weather warnings that require immediate action. These notifications include emergency evacuations, shelter-in-place instructions, missing children alerts, tornado warnings, etc.

Camping Fees

Effective January 1, 2024 camping fees are now $25.00 per night.
