And we have it! Turtle Lake is home to a new plant that began processing cheese
in 2004. The plant specializes in the production of hard Italian cheeses
such as Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago for Arthur Schuman Inc. They are also
now producing mascarpone!
The Cattail Trail runs for about 18 miles along the abandoned
railroad bed from Amery to Almena and crosses right through Turtle Lake.
The Trail is surrounded by trees of all kinds, hardwoods, softwoods, pines, fields, and beautiful wetlands full of color, fresh air, and wildlife. The Cattail Trail is a Multi-Use Trail and we ask everyone to practice caution while utilizing this resource.

The Wisconsin Legislature established the Rustic Roads
program in 1973 to help citizens and local units of government preserve what
remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled country roads.
